Srila Prabhupada, the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), emphasized that eternal or endless happiness is achieved through spiritual practice and devotion to Krishna, as outlined in the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita and other Vedic scriptures. The key principles he taught for attaining eternal happiness include:

1. Bhakti Yoga (Devotional Service): Engaging in devotional service to Krishna, which includes chanting the Hare Krishna mantra, worshipping deities, and offering food to Krishna. This practice helps purify the heart and mind, leading to spiritual bliss.

2. Chanting the Holy Names: Regularly chanting the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra ("Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare") is considered a powerful way to connect with the divine and experience inner peace and happiness.

3. Studying Vedic Scriptures: Reading and understanding sacred texts like the Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam provides knowledge and guidance on how to live a life aligned with spiritual principles.

4. Association with Devotees: Keeping the company of like-minded spiritual practitioners provides support, inspiration, and a sense of community, which is crucial for spiritual growth and happiness.

5. Living a Simple Life: Leading a life of simplicity, free from excessive material desires and attachments, allows one to focus on spiritual goals and experience contentment.

6. Performing Duty with Detachment: Performing one's duties with dedication but without attachment to the results, as advised in the Bhagavad Gita, helps maintain a balanced and peaceful mind.

7. Regulative Principles: Following ethical guidelines, such as

  • no meat-eating,
  • no intoxication,
  • no gambling, and
  • no illicit sex,

helps maintain a pure lifestyle conducive to spiritual advancement.

By sincerely practicing these principles, Srila Prabhupada taught that one can achieve eternal happiness and ultimately attain the spiritual world, where one can serve Krishna eternally in bliss and knowledge.
